Well dang,
I'm always so long with these but other missionaries are so short and sweet. Maybe I oughta take a leaf outta their books. Typing that sentence out made me feel like a bayou swamp man.
Earlier in the week my companion became exceedingly ill after eating consecutive questionable meals. It was only a matter of time before he "blew fat chunks" (vomited, puked, hurled a chunky mike, whatever your preferred vernacular would permit) into the storm drain outside our friends house. While I felt sorry for the poor chap, the poor Elder rather, it was quite the spectacle and gave me a good chuckle. You need not worry about his well being, for he made a rapid recovery as soon as the poison was expelled from his body.
Elder Mendenhall and I stacked some boxes of food at Second Harvest. I should say they came out quite pretty. And functional as well.
It seemed to me that we received many opportunities to administer the Priesthood this week which was a great blessing. Assuredly, the windows of heaven are open again!
One fellow, I'll call Tobias, approached us this week with the intent to contend with us. At first the conversation felt very tense and I was fearful that I would not be able to convey the important and glorious truths that God has sent me to proclaim to His children. I lifted up my heart in humble prayer and the Lord loosed my tongue to proclaim a simple testimony which I would like to share with you.
There is a promise in the Book of Mormon that whosoever will read it and ask God whether it is true, will receive their answer by the power of the Holy Ghost. I have read the Book of Mormon, I have prayed to know if it is true, and God answered my prayer with a feeling of enduring joy and peace that I know is divine. I know God was telling me that this Book is a true testament of Jesus Christ. I also know because of that answer, that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is God's church on the earth. Most importantly, I know that Jesus Christ is the Saviour of the world!
Through the teachings of the Book of Mormon and the church that accompanies it, I have learned how to follow Christ in a better way. And as I have lived what I have learned, I have loved more deeply, forgiven more easily, and existed more joyfully than I could ever describe.
Is it not then surprising that I want this same joy for all of my brothers and sisters? I testify Jesus is the Christ. He lives today and invites all to follow him! He is the way, the truth, and the Life for all of God's children.
I love my Saviour with all my heart.
So now, a song er two?
Heaven Falls/Fall On Me–Surfaces
Prima Dona–Tipling Rock
Stay–The Hails
I guess three.
Ahhhhh I love you all so much!!!
